Also, at play are the rumours of Ponniyin Selvan’s death at sea, the powerful Pazhuvettarayar’s betrayal, and the tragic destiny of Aditha Karikalan, whose heart was long lost to the vengeful Nandini.

All the great build up of politics, characters, conspiracy in the first part was turned into an oversimplified conclusion in the end according to me. I believe the book was super dense and so Mani could have concluded this in a better way than making it seem all too simple in the end. Many actions earlier seemed like it’s for nothing in the end. Same with the characters. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good but I think this had lot of scope to be so much more after the great world building in the first part and also first half of PS2. Except Vikram and Ash’s brilliantly complex love story angle, other stuffs had a very basic ending without much of an impact that I would have wanted. Nonetheless very watchable still. Just don’t expect this to be an extraordinary conclusion.
