A sweet, sweet movie.

Came in expecting *Taken *+ John Wick.  Walked away with Chef + First Cow. Although Nic Cage did possess a unique set of skills with a knife. Just a chef’s knife.

Deceptive storytelling in true sense. Put “Anti” word behind anything like Anti-genre, this would be that film. Framing of each shot has got the sense of longing and for most of the part it’s a quiet movie but stunning cinematography plus the slow burning narration speaks a thousand words as you understand the sole purpose of the movie. This will surely be on my mind for long. Nicolas in surprisingly Anti-Mandy or Anti-Color out of space mode yet his impact is the same and one of his finest. Weirdly depressing yet satisfying film. PS - And please stop saying “This is like John wick but better”. Trying to look cool by saying this. Both are brilliant in their own way. There is no comparison just because one didn’t opt for violence and action. Critics are many times stupid with such comparison
