incredible 🪓 The colorful and stylish presentation plus the transcendental performance by Mia Goth… It’s more of a character study than “X” was, not that I didn’t love X. Pearl as a character really spoke to me in some kind of way! Sorry i’m not so great with words.
MIA GOTH is my actress of the year. PERIOD. After brilliant performance in X, pearl gives her a platform where she’s absolutely magnificent throughout. And Ti West made 2 instant classics in 2022 that will be remembered for years. In Pearl, it’s just wow scenes after wow scenes and deliciously shocking slasher stuff that seriously deserves to have a cult following. It’s seriously that kind of a movie. Sadly oscars will rarely look into such genres or even nominate them. Annoys me. I really hope they do this time. This performance by Mia is right there on top. It can never be overlooked.
Wow tf was that performance, throughout the movie Mia was flexing how she is skillful to portray these many emotions and can carry whole picture on her back!! tbh nothing was good enough to hook me and once again like the first movie it was bland for other characters and same goes for that slow screenplay, it was her actions which were unpredictable that seeking my attention all the time. It would have been a lot better if we knew this backstory before the first installment, that would have added some essence in the plot. It is way better than X cause motivations were more clearer and the actions had some depth.
