Mission: Impossible - Fallout2018

OK, I get it now. I stand by everything I said last time, but it really clicked how beautifully shot this movie is. Like, absolutely gorgeous.  The writing is so-so. Given how similar it is to the previous movie, I do feel that that aspect is not as strong. Maybe there are too many moving parts.  Also, a little character assassination for Ilsa as a treat. Like, her motivations and actions in the previous film make sense and make her a great character and counterpart to Ethan Hunt. But in this movie, her motivations are bland and undermine her as a character and as a female lead.  Ethan Hunt literally says “who’s making you do this? M:I 6?” And that has to be on purpose.  Everybody else gets some really strong moments and overall the movie works. It just doesn’t all meld the way I think they wanted it to.  As I was watching this I called it the “Rises” to Rogue Nations “Dark Knight” and I think I stand by that. And where is Jeremy Renner?
