Jon Favreau literally said, “I’m going to make evil Swingers.” While definitely a spiritual sequel to Swingers, it has none of the charm or relatability of that film. They took Vince Vaughn’s character, who was so money, and turned him into a schlemiel. The plot is kind of messy too. I honestly could have done without the trip to New York and wish the movie just focused on Jon’s character and his girlfriend and her daughter. It feels like they had half an idea for a movie but made a whole movie anyways. What’s here isn’t bad, but I get to the end and I’m like, “Okay?” What’s the point? I don’t know. It’s not a bad movie, but next time I’ll just watch Swingers instead.
