Set in a timeless mythical forest inhabited by fairies, goblins, unicorns and mortals, this fantastic story follows a mystical forest dweller, chosen by fate, to undertake a heroic quest. I can’t tell if this movie is really bad or really good. There are a lot of moments where it’s just a slog to get through (a beautiful slog but a slog none the less) and there are others where it clicks and I think “oh they’re trying to say something here”. What that could be I have no idea beyond the very obvious loss of innocence themes. And maybe that’s all there is to it. Also Tom cruise is barely in this even though he’s supposedly the main character.
