Extremely shy Lars finds it impossible to make friends or socialize. His brother and sister-in-law worry about him, so when he announces that he has a girlfriend he met on the Internet, they are overjoyed. But Lars' new lady is a life-size plastic woman. On the advice of a doctor, his family and the rest of the community go along with his delusion.

great film, it's just so...pleasant. i kinda expected it to be a romcom, but it turned out to be something much softer and more unusual. it’s not really “funny” in the typical sense, more like gently absurd in a way that somehow feels completely sincere. the whole film has this calm, warm, almost comforting energy to it. what really stayed with me was how the town responds to lars. there are moments where people are just sitting around, talking, and including her, even when he’s not there, simply because they know it matters to him. it’s such a quiet but powerful display of empathy and care. it’s a simple film. the kind that makes you pause and think about what it means to be understood....or at least, to be met halfway :)
