An Icelandic couple live with their herd of sheep on a beautiful but remote farm. When they discover a mysterious newborn on their land, they decide to keep it and raise it as their own. This unexpected development and the prospects of a new family brings them much joy before ultimately destroying them.

Oh wow. Didn’t realize Bela Tarr was a producer for this film. Maybe the most A24 film yet?
I can’t believe I was hooked to a story as bizarre as this. Most of the credit goes to the atmosphere set by the ambitious debut director Valdimar Jóhannsson and excellent performance by Noomi Rapace. I am all in for bizarre twisted stuffs that are done well. It’s an acquired taste. Lamb too is mostly done well and I get all the tropes of motherhood that was explored here but still it didn’t blow my mind like other pathbreaking twisted movies of 2021 “Annette” and “Titane”. Those were #MyShit certified films. Lamb couldn’t be #MyShit as a whole. Nonetheless Lamb is mostly simple in terms of narrative and most importantly it’s original slow burn content. And yes I laughed too at few scenes (Seemed deliberately done that human lamb) which is in itself quite weird considering I was watching a mystery/Horror/Fantasy movie. I take this as “Mission accomplished” in making me experience all kinds of emotions and still keeping me hooked till the end.
