During the Kadamba reign, King Vijayendra, the ruler of the fictional feudatory land of Bangra, meets his final fate while venturing into the mystical forest of Kantara. Witnessing this, his son Rajashekara seals the borders of their realm. Later, Prince Kulashekara reopens them through a brutal massacre. The protagonist, Berme, in search of prosperity, crosses the divide and ignites a conflict of faith, power, and destiny between the Kingdom and Nature.

Boring AF
This is how you spend money. This is how you make an audience feel it was completely worth it. Such a detailed world building and beautifully executed mystical stuffs with solid writing. I am damn sure this film will become even better after second watch. Very very dense world and it really deserves to be watched one more time. Literally every sequence is executed with utmost depth and keeping technicalities in mind. This is what you get when makers don’t take audience for granted. There are production houses who are giving us pure torture in a 450 crores budget. Rishab knows our value, he knows that he can’t take us for granted. Yet again an amazing theatrical experience. 4K PXL format with Dolby Atmos was icing on a cake. Top notch Sound designing and soundtrack. PS : Comedy in some of the major scenes could have been avoided. Thankfully it didn’t hamper my whole experience because…

watching your own culture and beliefs on the big screen is truly an unreal experience!!!! kantara: chapter 1 gave me that, and as always, rishabh absolutely dominates the screen with his presence and visceral acting. but honestly, that alone couldn’t save the whole film. the first half? total snoozefest. lame, kinda cringe, and the dialogues felt so forced and out of place. but then the climax hit and wow… insane. the visuals, the cinematography, the vfx, the background score....everything came together beautifully. still, it doesn’t fully land because the characters don’t have enough depth. second half is definitely worth the watch, but the first half of the movie just dumped ice water on me and made it hard to fully enjoy :(
Where the first film (apart from the introduction and end) felt like an average south indian flick which would act as a passive watch if it ever came on tv…this prequel was all the good parts and more built into solid lore and world building which had a way better payoff by the end. Even though the different characters/tribes were a little too black and white for me, I loved the antagonists in this. Gulshan Deviah being a coorgi only helped with that strong dialect without a need for a dub. Bro was easing in and out of gags and light hearted humour to losing his shit and having psychotic breakdowns like it was child’s play 😭
