The Heat starring Melissa McCartney and Sandra Bullock is the dividing line between interesting Paul Feig and lazy Paul Feig. And since he made The Heat, each Feig film has gotten progressively worse (tbph I can't believe I've seen most of them). Welp, it doesn't get much lazier than Jackpot! ladies and gentlemen. Feig lift the plots of other bad (but better than his) movies like ... the Purge? Ugh. This film also suffers from the digital CGI shine affecting all the "straight to streaming" and even blockbusters right now (looking at you Furiosa). There's still hope for Paul Feig - I think A Simple Favor 2 is a good idea for him. Female driven thrillers/mysteries are on a roll and Feig needs to shake things up if he doesn't want to be the go to Apple TV + movie guy ... I don't even know what streamer aired this. And Alamo had a secret screening in my town tonight so it got at least one theatrical screening in the Midwest. I should've gone to it. I'm a hypocrite ...
