In 1938, an art collector appeals to eminent archaeologist Dr. Indiana Jones to embark on a search for the Holy Grail. Indy learns that a medieval historian has vanished while searching for it, and the missing man is his own father, Dr. Henry Jones Sr.. He sets out to rescue his father by following clues in the old man's notebook, which his father had mailed to him before he went missing. Indy arrives in Venice, where he enlists the help of a beautiful academic, Dr. Elsa Schneider, along with Marcus Brody and Sallah. Together they must stop the Nazis from recovering the power of eternal life and taking over the world!

What does the diary tell you that it doesn't tell us?” “It tells me, that goose-stepping morons like yourself should try reading books instead of burning them!” So much James Bond in this movie, even beyond literally having James Bond in the movie. The format of the movie itself speaks to its lineage. And I didn’t think I could love this movie any more.
83/100 Not quite as good as the first movie in my opinion, but still a very good followup and a great adventure film in almost every way as well as a wild rollercoaster of emotion. The foremost thing tying this movie together is the father-son story, which while undoubtedly a bit silly, holds up strongly due to the great chemistry between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. The first half sets up an intriguing mystery with Indy's father, but I think I prefer their interactions in the latter half of the film. The movie juggles these two plotlines very well, and funnily enough, I don't think one overshadows the other. I'm just as interested in Indy searching for his dad as I am in the search for the Holy Grail. The film also has amazing action sequences as is usual for the franchise, with each action setpiece once again having a unique twist which helps it not be boring. My personal…
