In the remote South Korean village of Hope Harbor, police chief Bum-seok and officer Sung-ae are called to investigate a mysterious creature wreaking havoc on the community. But all is not as it seems, and perceptions can be misleading. What begins as ignorance plants the seed of disaster, escalating through human conflict into a tragedy of cosmic proportions.

Holy shit talk about building tension step by step. From the promotional material I assumed this was going to be similar to The Host, where the monsters are somehow connected to chemical plants or some experiment, but it’s not that. It’s different. This is what I love about films like Nope, Godzilla Minus One and Hope. They make their humans feel… so tiny and vulnerable… you know like a human, so when they actually come face to face with the giant monsters, we the audience really fucking feel the terror and the frightening sounds. I loved how we didn’t even see the “monster” in the beginning. We just followed the cop and everyone else and through them we saw the destruction that was caused by some mysterious creature. Man the first time we heard his screams HOLY SHIT. Also, I DID NOT EXPECT HIM TO LOOK LIKE THAT HOLY FUCK! It reminded me of Weapons in terms of how they built the tension…

It started off so well, with excellent action sequences and tension building up during the first 40 minutes, but the final act was poorly executed.
