I had a blast. Always dreamt of an Indian spoof film nailing the genre to this extent and HAPPY PATEL is that one. Quality silliness, witty writing yet balancing between the 2 extremes of slickness and never going off the rails. Vir Das is exceptional in the film. Co-writing and co-directing something that can easily get into CHEAP COMEDY zone. Vir Das respects the genre and he knows how to make a SPOOF film work. Always loved those great spoof films from Hollywood. Finally Vir Das brings it in his own unique way for an Indian audience. PS - People who are not into spoof films will not get this. For admirers of those good Hollywood spoof films, I am very happy to report that we got a class bonkers spoof comedy in India.
