This was Damien Chazelle’s director debut film. You see glimpses of what is the come with Whiplash and La La Land. The movie wasn’t that great though. Didn’t connect with the characters. Didn’t follow the storyline. The close-up shots were unnecessarily jarring. It caused tensioned, when it didn’t need to. This movie alllllmost wanted to be a musical. But there were 2 sing-songs in the entire 80 minutes of the movie. Movie didn’t know what it wanted to be. But dude was 24 when this was released. That’s NUTS! What have you done by the time you were 24? I only wish I could have made a bad movie by then.
