Magical version of Pinocchio which adds a fascinating layer of a Christ allegory on top of the familiar story. My 4 & 7 year old were more emotionally moved than I ever remember them being in a movie. Just a joy to watch.

I was surprised by how it’s a great exploration of mortality! and love! it’s a beautiful little film! loving someone for who they are, while they are still here!  This felt **extremely **personal. Almost as if I was peeking at someone’s journal I wasn’t supposed to see. Del Toro gave it his all!!

After seeing this movie I checked the making of video on YouTube. Every time I get stunned by this method of animation which is a stop motion. The way directors achieve smallest of details with this tough method plus great storytelling. That’s exactly what Guillermo achieved. This particular story ain’t new, we all know but gorgeous stop motion gives it a beautiful layer of depth that mesmerised me throughout.
