A first-time captain leads a convoy of allied ships carrying thousands of soldiers across the treacherous waters of the "Black Pit" to the front lines of WWII. With no air cover protection for 5 days, the captain and his convoy must battle the surrounding enemy Nazi U-boats in order to give the allies a chance to win the war.

90 minutes of highly procedural and ultra fast paced WW2 War film that was thrilling from the word “GO” and deserved a theatre watch which we can’t do sadly. Every time Hank’s ship and his people are trying to dodge Nazi Torpedoes, believe me, it is as exhilarating as John Wick’s gun fights. My biggest problem with the film was BGM. It was okay and generic at best. Some of the BGM choices were very average for a tense situation. Though there is not much focus on character development, still Tom’s character is shown to be humane enough for the time when racism was at its peak. It is in his expressive performance that I saw his character develop and his past and not through dialogues or the writing. This is where this film is successful and full credit goes to Tom Hanks (Writer/Actor in this).
An incredibly made, super tight little war movie. Tom Hanks did an incredible job on the script, and visually it’s very impressive. Everything fits together and serves a purpose. I love how the U-boats feel like real predators on the hunt, picking off the stragglers. Hanks’ performance is outstanding as well. It’s extremely satisfying in its brevity, but I honestly wouldn’t mind an extra thirty minutes. Will watch again for sure.
