I’m not fully sold on Brosnan yet. But so much of this movie is incredible. I think Janus is probably the best villain yet as this dark mirror to James. And Xenia as this succubus created to solely play on his sexual and emotional weaknesses. I like the Y2K elements of the plot and overall the production is well done. An incredible finale as well. But I just find Bond himself rather stiff. His quips come across dry and disinterested. Its tone is also similar to the previous film in many ways and I think Dalton did it better. I think the movie is good but I’m surprised with how popular it is that it just didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I’m sure nostalgia is a big factor as this was a comeback for the character plus the immensely popular game. I bet this was many people’s first Bond movie. And I think it might work better without the context of the other films.
