Gamera vs. Garasharp

53/100 I realized that I still hadn't reviewed the Gamera short films, and the Gamera marathon needed an unnecessary sequel anyways. It's only studio tradition, after all. Jokes aside, Gamera vs. Garasharp is merely a short film, and one where the behind-the-scenes production, already somewhat standard, is more interesting than the movie. I do think this has potential to be turned into a full movie, but as a short film it's inoffensive but uninteresting. I think Garasharp is an interesting monster, and I like how Gamera's "Friend to all Children" characterization from his Showa era run is maintained here, but most of the film is portrayed through uninteresting storyboard, bringing it down. Shoutout to Marukobukarappa by the way. He shows up at the end for no reason other than to be called trash and I think that's really funny. Of the two Gamera short films, this one is easily the worse one, but I can't blame a bankrupt studio's proof of concept too much. It's meh, but an interesting concept to be expanded on.
