I feel like I’ve seen this plot numerous times, but it’s done so well. Breaking the fourth wall seems odd at first, but there was a pay off when he rewound the movie to save Fatty. Still not entirely sure though the benefit to it though, and if the movie isn’t based in reality. Was shocked that the little boy died. I liked that it wasn’t campy like Evil Dead 2, or over the top gory like the Saw movies. It was perfectly in the middle.

De más está decir que la perversión de los atacantes es absoluta, sobretodo por su falta de motivos. Lo que me fascina de Haneke es que no solo se anima a mostrar el peor lado del ser humano, también te deja con mil interrogantes y el desconsuelo del después.  Pero el verdadero blanco del director es el otro ejecutante: el espectador. Cuando Paul mira a cámara y sonríe, o cuando usa el control remoto para rebobinar una escena, nos señala directamente: ¿qué esperabas? ¿Por qué seguís mirando? Si existe algo peor que la maldad, es el espectador de la misma.

Film z którego byłby dumny Bertolt Brecht, bo kiedy tylko Haneke zaczyna sobie pogrywać ze mną jako z widzem, moje zmysły wytężają się w poszukiwaniu porozrzucanych rekwizytów. Haneke nie tyle zaprasza, co zmusza do zabawy, bo ma świadomość tego jak działa widz. Mogę sobie to rewatchować po latach, pamiętając na kim skończy się wyliczanka, ale i tak odliczam sobie w myślach, zastanawiając się później, czy matka nie zdołała policzyć tego szybciej. A może nie chciała? No i oczywiście zgadywałem w jakim jest wieku. Quentin Tarantino stworzył wzór do naśladowania nie tylko dla brutalnych home invasion movies, ale też dla wszystkich komiksów łamiących piątą ścianę i pogrywających z oczekiwaniami widza.
