Four Rooms1995

This is an interesting one. Four segments by four different directors. The first two are so bad and it’s no wonder they didn’t really go on to do anything after this. The Robert Rodriquez segment is ok. It’s somewhat funny and Antonio banderas is good as usual.  I have no idea what Tim Roth was doing in this. I have seen him in movies from before and after this so I know he is a good actor. So in this he plays the bellboy Ted and in the opening scene he’s doing this crazy overactive pantomime but he doesn’t say anything so im thinking “ok this could work theyre probably doing a reference to The Bellboy (1960)” (which Quentin Tarantino actually mentions in his segment.)  Then he opens his mouth, and he’s still doing this over the top physical performance. And it just does not work. It’s like baby’s first acting performance. He doesn’t say anything funny (Or do anything funny) until the final chapter and I guarantee it’s because of the writing not because of his acting choices But Quentin Tarantino is why we’re here and his segment is well worth the price of admission. It is a long trip but once you get to the penthouse you are in for a great ride. As always his writing is top tier.  the big man himself as Chester Rush brings an absolutely electric energy to the scene.  I would never watch this movie again but I would recommend watching the Tarantino section to any fan of his work.  Overall this movie is like a 1.5/5 but Quentins segment is like a 4/5 which brings the score up a little bit.
