You know this movie is growing on me.  I watched it again - I don’t know why but this movie works well when you frame it with carpenters filmography as a whole up until 1996.  All of us can agree that John Carpenter is the cool loner who doesn’t give a fuck about the rules.  He’s anti establishment and as the real world got worse, he looked around and said fuck it, went full blown anti tribalism, and now plays video games on his couch. I can relate.   Anyway John Carpenter never sold out even though he will tell anyone with a microphone he giddily sold out.  His selling out is similar to snoop where I dunno it’s kinda cool and not really selling out as much as its performance art.  So when Plissken sends us back to the dark ages, I think John Carpenter is just like fuck it this place is a lost cause …. He called it like two decades before anyone else.  John Carpenter is a soothsayer. Still 1.5 stars though.  The movie is just terrible
