I loved The Holdovers so much that I revisited some Alexander Payne classics. It doesn't get more classic than Election. Sure, Tracy tore down posters, but wouldn't you be frustrated if an adult with authority over you undermined your student council election campaign? Tracy Flick did nothing wrong. I would've voted for her. Also - and I mean this as a compliment - my wife is a Tracy Flick and they really do mean well! They want to help! You don't like the Tracy Flicks of the world because they remind you that you're capable of more than you're doing. That can piss lazy people off, but me? I'm into it. Finally, the aforementioned poster scene reminded me of the Possession subway scene. That's how much I love Reese!
