Rahul Sadasivan is a boon for horror fans like me. Bhootakalam, Bramayugam and now Dies Irae. Latest one is not as flawless as the previous 2 films, but it has got enough greatness of Rahul’s masterwork, technically and also narrative-wise. All his signature slow-burn setup, sound design/mixing plus thumping BGM are all there. Solid theatre watch overall.
Crazy to think this is same director/writer of Bramayugam. Never seen a more lazy and disappointing second half in all these years. It’s like he had 10 points to fill up two skills: screenwriting and filmmaking…and he used up all of it for the latter. And with everyone in the theatre howling and laughing at every jump-scare to compensate and cover up for their true reaction of feeling shit scared didn’t help either.
