Madeline is married to Ernest, who was once her arch-rival Helen's fiancé. After recovering from a mental breakdown, Helen vows to kill Madeline and steal back Ernest. Unfortunately for everyone, the introduction of a magic potion causes things to be a great deal more complicated than a mere murder plot.

Zemeckis-fest What an insane run for our mister Zemeckis. Back to the Future, Roger Rabbit, and now Death Becomes Her. All monuments of cinema to be lauded and hailed as touchstones of the filmmaking medium. There is a quirkiness to his work at this point that, knowing the future, seems to be the downfall of his career. But here, as in those other films, it is perfected. I honestly don’t know at this point which I prefer; they are all so strong. This is a gorgeous film. The colors, the production design, and of course, our leading ladies. And as beautiful as it is, it’s also incredibly funny with an absurdity that Zemeckis also seems to love. Obviously campy but measured with taste. There is an elegance and exactitude that is unmatched and unrivaled from similar films.
