Four African-American Vietnam veterans return to Vietnam. They are in search of the remains of their fallen squad leader and the promise of buried treasure. These heroes battle forces of humanity and nature while confronted by the lasting ravages of the immorality of the Vietnam War.

Modern day take on Treasures of the Sierra Madre My biggest issue with the movie was during the flashbacks and all the old dudes were still old.
I get the message Spike lee is projecting here. But I cannot deny the fact that this film is also not Spike Lee’s usual masterpiece that I expected it to be. The whole treasure hunt plot and madness it created slowly didn’t work for me that much. All the war imagery I get it but somewhere the typical Hollywood tropes just didn’t work with the imagery and the important message it’s trying to project. It’s just entertaining to watch, brilliant performances and of course very much timely which makes this film work anyhow.
