Come and See1985

Roger Deakins while talking about this film he said “He created a beauty with ugliness”  That’s so on point what he said. This is actually the most rarest war movie that explores an angle of war that’s the most disturbing ever. On top of that shooting it, writing it and executing it is the toughest part. Some of the set pieces were so challenging yet it was stunningly shot and executed. I don’t think showing something like that is easy but this was bang on MASTERPIECE. The anger that boy felt in the end, I felt it too. Especially the way characters see straight into our eyes made it much more immersive and you feel that connection to them. That immediacy and intensity in the direction made it even better. My most favourite scene was when the lead is in the field with a cow and suddenly tracer bullet starts coming right at them. That was one hell of an epic scene that I can’t forget and then burning barn scene almost pierced right through my soul and I had to pause. Then the real images in the end made it worse and insanely impactful. Not an easy feat to achieve when handling such subject but Elem Klimov did the unthinkable and produced something that I can easily say as the best war film ever made.
