Tennis player turned coach Tashi has taken her husband, Art, and transformed him into a world-famous Major champion. To jolt him out of his recent losing streak, she signs him up for a "Challenger" event — close to the lowest level of pro tournament — where he finds himself standing across the net from his former best friend and Tashi's former boyfriend.

I really like the music, and the editing was quite great, but I couldn’t get into the story and found the acting and dialogue pretty grating. Also not really even about tennis
兩男一女的愛恨糾葛 最後挺精彩 但慢動作太多了稍扣分
I had a feeling from the beginning this was gonna be a masterpiece. I thought it was one of those overrated romance films that I hate but the second I started it, heard the soundtrack, saw the amazing cinematography, I knew I was gonna love this film! Even if i didn’t like the ending it was still a truly amazing film! Edit: now that I’ve had more time to think about it, I don’t like this film as much as before, the cinematography is fantastic tho. Edit: I don’t like it anywhere near as much as before.
This is ridiculously good
I don't think this is about tennis.
tension, competition, grunts, sweat. Are we still talking about tennis? Luca Guadagnino crafts a movie that is dripping with sensuality. The compelling relationships problems are resolved in the tennis court. It’s a love triangle where the competition can be literal sport, so there’s no way to tell where one ends and the other starts. How a musical goes to song to express the lives of its characters, the tennis match is the place for the dramatization of love life problems. And who knew there were so many interesting ways of filming tennis? The camera here is alive, you won’t be able to miss it. It’s different every time. There were moments in the theater it felt like the ball could actually hit me. With the non-linear storytelling, every single gesture becomes layered with meaning. And we slowly learn everything that is making the match we start the movie with be as intense as it is. There is one gesture done by one of the players that almost made me audibly gasp.
la vi completa en un gif de tuiter, la veré de nuevo algún dia btw
I have no words after that climax. F…King phenomenal. And there goes so many snubs at Oscars. Unbelievable that this couldn’t get that Oscar buzz. Wow. For score, direction, juicy and complex non-linear screenplay, performances, editing etc etc. All shockingly snubbed. What a CRIME!!!!!
Banger soundtrack
No one can know how this movie made me feel
What a great flick and by the gasps and laughs and oohhs and aahhhsss of my fellow audience members, they felt the same way. And also total silence but no one’s getting up to pee during the horniest of scenes … the sexual tension definitely transferred from the screen to the room. B squeezed my bare sticks (short short weather) right as Patrick grabbed Art’s … had he already seen this or … ? I wanted to throw a bouquet at the screen when the credits rolled
Challengers • (2024) It actually proved me wrong—I wasn’t expecting this kind of drama from it. It’s surprisingly good. Challengers is essentially the story of three characters, starting from their initial meetup, then drifting apart, and eventually reuniting. The three leads did an outstanding job; they actually trained for their roles as tennis players, and you can clearly see the effort. Another highlight is its cinematography and camera work—the visuals are stunning and somehow it's solid bgm works everytime.
