The original James Bond. And he’s American. The actual first adaptation of Casino Royale and James Bond himself. Due to the simplicity of the story, it makes total sense as a tv film. I wish we still did live tv productions like this.  Casino Royale is not my favorite Craig movie already, and this stripped-down version doesn’t help the story at all. The casting of an American as Bond is kind of a head-scratcher, especially when Michael Pate is here and honestly would have done a better job. James Bond has class, and this actor doesn’t have it.  I really wish we got a version with Sean Connery, especially with a crew from dr no. I think with that film’s vibrancy and Connery’s charm, it could have been an all-timer. Maybe the David Niven film will win me over.
