Perfect example of taking important ideas and decreasing it to a scattered deadpan screenplay with super generic/repetitive or not so well executed action ideas. Trailer was solid and I had expected nothing but a solid movie. But really some directors these days are confused between executing solid ideas and pleasing all kinds of an audience. I think Captain Miller comes under latter category. There is nothing wrong in making a movie for everybody (Masses) but here director is trying way too hard to balance amount of non massy and massy stuff and I believe he failed. It’s all in the execution in such films because already film has taken a generic route. Taking a generic route and presenting it in a creative way is different. But If the execution/presentation and action ideas aren’t great with zero character depths, then this will remain nothing but a generic mess. Thats what captain miller turned out to be for me.
