Simplest Lanthimos’s film yet salivating filmmaking in every damn sense. Loved the ending too. I haven’t watched the original but from the start to the beginning it was kinda clear to me that this is not as Lanthimos-ish as I had expected it to be because everything was too damn simple 😂  I am laughing because this genius director is known for deliciously complicated shit. This story could well be a kids cartoon story. It’s that basic but Lanthimos truly knows how to present it in a way that at least skims through his style if not 100% his style. Only Lanthimos could transform such a simple plot into a compelling watch. Madly satisfying results in the end.

I was hoping she’d actually be an alien, and I was not disappointed.

fica um pouquinho a sensação de que as cenas se repetem e se repetem em função.  O Ted é extremamente frustrante como personagem, de um jeito interessante, refletindo pessoas que descobrem a “verdade” em teorias da conspiração na internet e se recusam a aceitar outra realidade. E aí o final faz com que você tenha que pensar mais para entender o que o filme quer dizer sobre esse tipo de pessoa. Acho que precisaria rever pra absorver melhor essa parte. Ah, e é engraçado!

What have we done.  What have we done. We have forgotten we are human. We are people. We are brothers. We love and we should love. They are taking the ability to love away from us. But we must never forget the fact that we are the same.  This film shows a spectrum of emotions with many moments feeling humorous or absurd. And we can point and laugh at the crazy conspiracy theorist. And then there is a final twist and we can laugh at the absurdity of that. 

Aiden Elbis and Stavros shouldn't be overlooked, but my goodness Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons both gave their best performances I've seen. Landry and the girl in Easy A have come so far. I mean seriously - I'm concerned about the level of empathy I felt for both their characters
