Blade Runner1982

This is probably one of the most challenging films I have had to review. On the one hand, the movie is incredible at achieving its goal. The world is fascinating, the cinematography captures the tone incredibly well, the production and sets are  rich and well made and the score is very atmospheric. On a technical scale it’s marvelous and I will say the film has not left my brain since I watched it last night. The movie is very memorable and the mood it gives really doesn’t leave you.It put me in a really bad and unhappy mood but that was defiantly the point. However I can’t deny that I didn’t enjoy watching it and I honestly could do without ever watching it again. It’s not even that it’s such a downer movie, it’s just that the film is the same mood for the entire film and it never changes from melancholy, lonely or just uhh shitty. My favorite film of all time is 2001, so people expect me to love this movie and other movies like arrival or inception, but the difference is that 2001 is not only a gorgeously shot, and mesmerizing experience, but it’s also evokes a lot of different emotions. Fear, mystery, joy, loneliness, triumph etc. while all of these movies have the same emotion throughout and it makes it harder for me to care. That’s the most apparent in here. It’s a film that was honestly quite dreadful sometimes, especially near the end. Another big problem with the movie is the pacing. It’s not even that it’s slow, it’s just that the structure is very weird. The middle of the movie takes a really long time and then the climax just comes out of nowhere and everything afterwards feels very rushed. So yeah blade runner is a really well crafted and memorable picture but one I am not too keen on revisiting
