And then gradually implement offbeat humorous things to get you into the mood that’s open to the idea that there’s a door somewhere that leads into the head of John Malkovich. It starts with some Harry Potter-like elements like the 7 1/2 floor and then the people around the main character are weirder and weirder, that you feel comfortable in this strange world by the point the door gets introduced.
