After escaping unscathed from a car accident, photo model Simone decides that having a baby is the only way to give her vacant life some meaning. She asks her best friend Philippe to get her pregnant, and he reluctantly agrees, on the condition that they conceive somewhere in a desert, so they leave Montréal on a 24-hour round-trip to Salt Lake City to find a suitable spot.

Also another hard Villanueve film to find, but I did end up finding it on YouTube by typing the original title instead of the English title. So far I think this is Villanueve’s weakest work, it was a terrible movie, just didn’t have much pay off. There seemed to be plot that lead to nowhere. Just felt like an empty movie. The space hotel room though did remind of Blade Runner 2049 though.
Denis Villeneuve’s debut that was clearly mediocre but it did really show his hint of genius-ness in some of the epic shots that has actually now become his signature thing. This might not be a great start but whatever he has achieved in his later films after this not so good debut says a lot about this legend. Legendary director and legendary consistency throughout. Debut just gives a glimpse of his massive potential in some of the scenes. Just to know that, it’s worth watching and this is the only comedy film he has made.
