In short this is just a glossier outlook with some great new species of zombies, some good cinematography by Zach Snyder but inside the glossy outlook, everything is rougher finish that was so uneven and unexpectedly mediocre - Bad dialogues, exhaustingly uninteresting characters overall including Scott played by Bautista, no new or mindblowing zombie action set pieces that I had expected. It’s all too inconsistent to like even as a popcorn entertainment.  There’s only 4 things I loved - cinematography, brilliant opening sequence, hibernating zombies sequence was great (sadly couldn’t get the similar unique action set pieces in other parts of the film) and lastly I really liked two characters, Kate (Daughter of Bautista) and Dieter (Safe cracker) who only made me feel something for them.  It’s disappointing that Zach chose to focus more technically than the real flesh inside it that could have been as refreshing as the way the film looked and felt.  Wanted it to entertain in a refreshing way but ended up being a vastly uninteresting film if not totally.

Best zombie movie ever. There were so many things put really well in this movie that I didn't catch the first time but that's what rewatches are for. They teased a lot of stuff for future projects which I can't wait to see . A great way to start this universe.
