A Short Film About Killing1988

Kieślowski seem to just know the characters so well that showcases the human frailty and uncertainty of it all. From small to big, uncertainties in life comes in different sizes and hits us differently is what director is trying to tell plus exploring how death penalty is not the right solution irrespective of how, we, as a viewer takes it. Really incredible and to my shock, one of the most brutal murder scenes that I would have seen in a movie. Unsettling as hell. Also visually it’s absolutely distinctive and experimental.  At first I was unsure whether the visual choice of it being grainy was good or not but slowly it really felt like it went so well with the characters’ lives - victim, murderer and lawyer’s lives to be just as dark and uncertain in their own ways whether big or small. It’s also noteworthy that the story is written in a way that these characters at times cross paths initially. It’s all in the visuals that actually speaks more than the words which are very less in this film.  This powerful film was actually the reason for the abolition of death penalty in Poland. So that is what is called the true “INFLUENCIAL CINEMA”
