A Haunting in Venice2023

Definitely better than either of the previous Branagh films. This is definitely benefitted by the fact that it hasn’t been adapted before. It was good enough that it made want to see further adaptation from Branagh.  The look is really good. The locations are incredible with great ambience and interesting camera work. Taking horror elements and adapting them to a mystery in unique ways. It can still be melodramatic but nowhere near the extremes of the previous film. I like seeing Poirot somewhat at home as well.  The mystery is definitely one of the more interesting one but there seems to be more focus on the supernatural elements than on the mystery itself. This film also puts more of an effort in putting you in Poirots perspective (literally) and I think it makes his emotional elements stronger.  All in all I really enjoyed it and I could see myself watching it again next Halloween.
