Some amazing shots and the directing was superb, but it looks like it was shot on the goddamn Gameboy Camera

Aesthetically Tarkovsky-ish that I love and very uniquely edited and shot zombie film. Gore is there but choice of speed cut is so prominently stylised that I started imagining the worst for the victim, which hits harder. Seems like an intentional choice, from partially using low resolution camera to imperfectly perfect editing, that all makes this a very intriguing take on ZOMBIE genre. Wonder why I took so long to watch this.

At the beginning of the movie I said it looked like an episode of doctor who. I was then very much shocked and surprised when Christopher eccleston showed up. But he was evil so womp womp.  Really great movie. I can see its influence in every piece of zombie media that has followed. I think the camera choice is fascinating but distracts from the film overall. So many fantastic shots but I’m often times distracted by the sheer amount of pixels I can see on the screen at any given moment.  Overall the acting is pretty strong with the daughter being the weakest link. But the script is great and I love the shots and the editing. Very of its time but still somewhat timeless.

“Ok Jim, I’ve got some bad news.”  The movie industry clearly isn’t dead when Barbenheimer makes 2 billion dollars, but Jerry Seinfeld was right about one thing.  Nobody quotes movies anymore.  I’m going to do that more often in my day to day life.  And this movie is great.  You should watch it

WTFFFF THIS WAS SO GOOD BHAI This was the most stylised, non trope-y, tightly written, fucking perfect zombie movie I’ve ever seen. And all that in under $5 mil on an XL1s, insane.
