I nearly forgot what a masterpiece this is. It works so well because the gimmick (the movie being shot in one take) doesn’t hinder the story, it enhances it. With some exceptionally beautiful scenes, incredible performances and fantastically well placed cameos, Sam Mendes has created a journey of mythic proportions and one of the greatest war movies of all time.
