Harris was widely known for his musical compositions "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport" and "Jake the Peg" and his recording of "Two Little Boys". His career hid a darkness. It ended in disgrace after he was found guilty of the indecent assault of teenage girls over many years. He was jailed in 2014.
