Tonight my wife, my brother, and I went to a local Asian Market as is tradition when he stays with us. We always gets a unique drink and snack and will always watch something in the vein of an anime. Tonight’s pick was Your Name. About 10 minutes in my brother said, “wait, another body swapping movie??” Because we had just recently watched Face/Off. So I think he went in a little hesitant. He’s also recently got his first girlfriend, so he’s raging full of teenage hormones. Let’s just say at the end of this movie I looked over at him and he started to well up some tears. I can only imagine him texting his girlfriend minutes after saying, “I’ll never forget you” or “I’ll always search for you.” Haha When I asked him if they were tears he said, “NOOO!!! I just have dry eyes and they water *broooo.” *Sure they do little bro. Surrrrre Anyways, the animation was very great. Love the use of the camera motion in particular. Definitely could have been a very predictable movie, but was pleasantly surprised that it kept me on my toes and I didn’t know where the movie was taking me about halfway. It was a very comforting film in my opinion, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I give this 5 stars later in life. But for now 4.5 seems like a deserving rating for Your Name.
