“Wuthering Heights”2026

I have never read Wuthering Heights. I don’t know anything about the book other than that it is a classic romance novel. I’m sure this adaptation is incredibly inaccurate. In fact, I think the director said as much.  And I couldn’t care less.  This is an incredibly beautiful film filled with deliciously wicked characters. Every shot looks like the cover of a classic romance paperback, and every moment is delightfully excruciating. You root for the characters’ downfall as much as their success.  I could tell what kind of story this was going to be pretty early on, so I was never disappointed with how unlikable the characters are. My favorite part was when Heathcliff returns. He’s so smug, and I love his constant smirking. I liked Jacob Elordi in Frankenstein, but I loved him here.  I expected smut and drama, and that’s what I got. And all wrapped in a gorgeous package.  I was going to give this a four at first, but honestly, I loved it. It’s so beautiful, I have to see it again.
