2.5/5 Hard one to rank because of all the context involved, but I'll still rate it based on the enjoyment and the feels that it gave me. There was more appreciation than enjoyment with this one. Silent movies are not really for me, yet I enjoyed the film. I also appreciate and recognize the historical and cultural importance of this film as well as the importance of Micheaux‘s work, he was a pioneer. I can only imagine the difficulties he faced to make a film like this at that time and I'm happy a copy of the film was able to be recovered and restored. The film delivers some important and powerful messages, that are still very relevant to this day. Sadly, many things have not changed in the last 100 years. A little troubled by the twist at the end, and one quote, but it’s not a big deal.
