Vampire's Kiss1989

Take away Nic Cage’s acting choices and you have a respectful story about power dynamics and sexual assault. Of course, Cage’s performance overshadows the deeper message the script may have emphasized.   One could even argue Cage hijacked the production and made the movie about himself. I disagree. I suspect the director told Cage he is Mr. Loews, an arrogant, psychotic, pompous, condescending literary agency executive who is hallucinating a vampire woman drinking his blood during sex.  Over the rest of the film, he deteriorates as he concludes that yes he is a vampire. Isn’t that exactly who Cage played? I don’t see a guy goofing off. I see a guy taking his job seriously.   I have some questions about the strength of plastic vampire teeth though.
