Transformers: The Last Knight2017

A movie so stupid it just might work.  A premise so cool that’s absolutely wasted in this movie. Yes, Transformers were knights of the Round Table. Sick. Earth is Unicron. Woah. Optimus Prime is so brainwashed. What the flip? This movie is so bloated that somehow it manages to stay actually entertaining. Anthony Hopkins and his robot butler are a delight. I still love John Goodman robot. I don’t understand why they went so hard on giving the Autobots character in the last two movies. Also, they went so hard on lore.  A lot of retconning and callbacks that really just highlight Sam’s absence. It really feels like it should be Sam at the end instead of some random guy from Texas. They tell us he has all these positive attributes, but he’s just a smart-talking asshole the whole movie. Also, I don’t get the obsession with the random British love interests, but at least this one has some sort of purpose.  a wild cliffhanger for the franchise to end on.  I’m still going to watch Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts, but overall, this whole franchise is a huge miss and completely fails to grasp what makes the toys and their world so interesting.
