Transformers: Age of Extinction2014

There are some things I like. Like John Goodman robot. I like that the Autobots are more than just background characters. I like Optimus’ new design. There might be other things. This movie is already fading from my mind. But pretty much everything else is a fail.  Everything about this movie feels off. Even more soulless than the others. And just like Mikaela in Dark of the Moon, Sam Witwicky has been completely written out. Also, what the hell did Chicago do to deserve all this? Why does Optimus Prime look like he’s been hiding out for 30 years, not just five? They killed Ratchet offscreen and then melted his head. Not that he was ever really a character, but that’s still messed up.  I’m torn on how I feel about the Transformers designs. They’ve been getting more and more biological and less mechanical, with Lockdown having a literal human face. I love the rest of his design, but his face ruins it.  Also, this movie is just way, way, way too long. Usually, I would like that, but nearly everything that happens is eye-rollingly cringe or pointless. Optimus Prime is even more out of character than before. And a lot feels like a setup for the sequel. Definitely my least favorite.
