We have here what seems to be a bit of a course correction for the series with the return of the original director of the first film as well as a return to the overarching spectre subplot that was referenced in From Russia with Love. I’m pretty mixed on this one. Some aspects I love, but a lot of stuff feels so drawn out. I think the entire opening could be cut up to the point Bond shows up at the office. Everything before seems kind of pointless and like stuff we just don’t need to watch. A lot of the underwater sequences are way too long as well. I get they are trying to flex, and I appreciate that. There are some cool shots. But because it’s underwater, everything feels like it’s 10 times as slow. The parade chase sequence is fantastic, and I like the main girl, Domino. Some strong bits and moments, and we even get a little bit of the Aston Martin. Overall, it’s probably a better movie than Goldfinger but a little duller. James Bond Ranked
