The Running Man2025

A lot in common with The Long Walk but without that movie’s stillness or heart. Each respective film is very representative of the games and world that exists within them. Where The Long Walk has a grim reality and quiet inevitability to it, the Running Man is explosive, fast-paced, and much more hopeful.  We see the change that Richard’s sets off here, but we never see the aftermath of The Long Walk. We see the corruption torn out by its roots in The Running Man. But The Long Walk is much more realistic. Most likely, there would be no societal change from the actions of the respective protagonists. Maybe it would even be praised, but the masses would move on in a week and forget all about it. Because nothing ever happens.  I enjoyed this movie. It is incredibly entertaining, and Glen Powell is electric. Maybe a little too silky smooth in its visual presentation, but it still has a lot of great shots and moments.  I wish I could watch a movie like this the way I used to. Enjoy the antics and laugh and agree with the “government bad” antics. I’m tired. Maybe I’ll still laugh. But it will be cold and bitter, and not too far back in my mind, I will be running through every moment that has brought us here. We are done. There is no turning back. Just falling further into the abyss. When’s the new season of The Running Man? Can’t wait to watch.
