Good concept, occasionally great action sequences (Charlize Theron is SOLID) . But it’s slightly led down by the undercooked execution of it all especially script. I am fine with the cliches if its done well and this mostly does it well and adding fantasy elements to it but my main problem was it felt really incomplete at times. Like when something is going great, immediately some poor dialogue writing would ruin it all or when the action sequence started well, sometimes it doesn’t land as well as it was started. Feels very rushed especially climax. I think that “finesse” is what was missing in the film. But I would give this an extra point just for making me think about mortality, destiny and “When it’s time, it’s time” and all. Hopefully this interesting concept with the philosophical touch will be even better in the sequel and find that FINESSE I was talking about.
