Kelly Reichardt simply de-glorifying “Criminal genius” myths hehe. From conventional funny heist sequence to unconventional consequences of the heist- really well done with great score and yet again Josh O’Connor’s performance is superb. He’s turning out to be something special. Although second half is pretty simplistic. Maybe it’s a deliberate decision to completely subvert the heist genre into something more personal and quiet. I was like “Something will happen now” but it was never about that. Kelly doesn’t follow the genre beats. Ended up becoming a character study. The ending is yet again very clever. Seems like the director Kelly is the true mastermind here who showed “How to screw up a heist with absolute confidence and some bad decisions”. Wanted more from it but it’s still a well directed/written movie.
