The King of Comedy1982

It’s the contradiction of the american dream.   Rupert believes he deserves fame because he works hard for fame, but doesn’t really work hard for himself. he doesn’t even have any written material for his stand up. so where does this dream lead people to?  “Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime”. And then he actually gets it. The violence is rewarded in the system. Or maybe it’s all an illusion, presented in the film through the television screens.
